Short-term business visits to South Korea: what to confirm

Korea publishes short-term business visit visa categories for commercial activity such as meetings, market research and exhibitions. Which category fits, and which Korean office or visa centre handles each traveller, is set by the Korean authorities and is confirmed on the official sources below before anything is filed.

Visa exemptions and the K-ETA electronic travel authorisation depend on nationality and change over time. Confirm on the official Korean sources whether a visa, an exemption or a K-ETA applies to each traveller’s passport — do not assume one replaces another.

South Korea: company pack and traveller pack

Group files go wrong when the employer side and the traveller side are prepared separately. Use this split as a working checklist; the exact list for your category and each traveller is confirmed by the visa centre and the inviting party.

Company / employer pack

  • Letter of invitation from the Korean company or event organiser hosting the trip, where one is available
  • Employer letter stating purpose, dates, cost-bearer and each traveller’s designation
  • Employment proof and, if asked for, evidence of funds
  • Day-wise schedule in Korea that matches the invitation

Each traveller provides

  • Passport with the validity and free pages the Korean authorities require
  • Application form and a recent photo
  • Registration or invitation confirmation for the event
  • Employment or business papers the category calls for

How we run a South Korea team file

  1. Pin down the category. We match the activity (meeting, market research, exhibition) to the visit category and office shown on the Korea Visa Portal, the Embassy page and HiKorea.
  2. Get the Korean-side letter. The host company or event organiser’s invitation must match each traveller’s name, purpose and dates exactly.
  3. Prepare the employer pack. Employer letter stating purpose, dates and cost-bearer, with employment proof and a day-wise schedule that matches the invitation.
  4. Time it to the show. Organisers often hold registration and invitation papers early, so we request them before filing and keep every traveller’s set identical.

Planning around a Korean trade show

Korean events covered on this site include:

Timing, fees and processing

Leave room for document preparation and appointment availability ahead of the show. Many organisers supply supporting papers to registered international visitors and exhibitors — ask early and file them with each traveller’s documents. Korean authorities set processing times, and they are not fixed.

Fees and processing times

Visa fees and processing times are set by the issuing authorities and visa centres and change over time, so this page does not quote figures. Visa decisions remain at the discretion of the relevant authorities and no outcome is guaranteed. Check the official sources below, or ask us to confirm the current position for your team.
