Which Taiwan route fits each traveller
Online travel authorisation. The Bureau of Consular Affairs describes a visa-exemption programme for Indian nationals who hold a valid resident or visitor visa (including electronic) or resident certificate issued by the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Schengen countries, Australia or New Zealand, and who have never been employed in Taiwan as blue-collar workers. It permits a stay of up to 30 days, applied for online with the National Immigration Agency; travellers who cannot show a qualifying visa or certificate at immigration are not admitted. The page does not itself define business activity, so confirm with the TECC that your trip is covered. The Bureau of Consular Affairs page we reviewed carries a 2015 date (effective 1 January 2016), so confirm with the TECC or the National Immigration Agency that the programme is still in force.
Business visa. Travellers without a qualifying visa apply for a visa at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC). The TECC’s New Delhi page sets out the business-visa documents below; the online form is completed on the Bureau of Consular Affairs visa portal and printed. Submission is in person at the visa counter only — post, courier, fax and email are not accepted. The Chennai office publishes its own list, so confirm which office serves each traveller.
Taiwan: company pack and traveller pack (TECC New Delhi list)
Group files go wrong when the employer side and the traveller side are prepared separately. Use this split as a working checklist; the exact list for your category and each traveller is confirmed by the visa centre and the inviting party.
Company / employer pack
- Invitation from the Taiwan inviter stating the purpose of the visit, the applicant’s name and other details
- Company cover letter: purpose of visit, visitor’s designation and intended duration of stay (for multiple-entry visas, include a tentative travel date)
- Copy of the government-issued company registration certificate (the page notes GST registration is not the document asked for)
- Company bank statement for 3 months with the bank’s original stamp, and the company’s ITR for 1 year
- Proof of transactions with Taiwan, if any — for example LC, remittance receipts or business correspondence
Each traveller provides
- Online visa application form, printed and signed
- Original passport valid for more than 6 months, with a photocopy
- Two passport-size photographs (3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background)
- Personal salary-account statement for 3 months with the bank’s original stamp
- ITR or Form 16 for 1 year (either one)
- Confirmed round-trip ticket and hotel booking reference
What Indian passport holders do not need to supply
The TECC New Delhi page states that Indian passport holders do not need the inviter’s personal ID, the Taiwan company’s registration or the “Letter of Guarantee for Visa Application” — requirements that apply to Nepalese and Bangladeshi passport holders. Additional documents or an interview may be requested case by case.
How we run a Taiwan team file
- Split the team by route. Travellers holding a qualifying visa or resident certificate can be prepared for the online authorisation; the rest need a TECC business visa.
- Get the Taiwan inviter’s letter. It must state the purpose and the applicant’s details; the inviter’s personal ID and company registration are not required for Indian passport holders.
- Prepare the company papers. Government company registration certificate (not GST), three months of company bank statements with the bank’s stamp, and one year’s ITR.
- File in person. Post, courier, fax and email are not accepted by the TECC, so we plan counter attendance for the whole group and track collection.
Planning around a Taipei trade show
Taiwan events covered in detail on this site, with dates, venues and registration steps:
Timing, fees and processing
Fix each traveller’s route first: an online authorisation can be prepared quickly if the qualifying visa is already held, whereas the business-visa file needs the Taiwanese inviter’s letter and the company’s registration and bank papers before anyone can attend the counter. Counter submission hours and collection hours are published on the TECC page (weekday mornings for submission, afternoons for collection), so plan travel to the office accordingly.
Fees and timing
The TECC page we reviewed does not state a fee amount or a processing time (it points to a separate fee page), so this page quotes neither. Decisions rest with the Taiwan authorities and no outcome is guaranteed. Confirm the current fee and timeline on the sources below, or ask us to do so for your team.
What commonly delays a team application
- Treating every traveller as eligible for the online route without checking the qualifying visa
- Posting or couriering documents instead of submitting at the counter
- Company registration certificate that is a GST document rather than the government registration
- Bank statements without the bank’s original stamp
- Invitation that does not state purpose and the applicant’s details
