Visa exemption or a Non-Immigrant B visa for a company trip?

The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi states that a 30-day visa exemption for Indian ordinary-passport holders is in effect from 15 September 2026 until further announcement. The Embassy describes it as a tourism scheme in its announcement and as covering “tourism and short-term business engagements purposes” on its visa page — the wording differs, so do not assume your team’s activity is covered without confirming it with the Embassy.

For meetings tied to contracts, conferences or anything beyond a brief visit, the safer route is the Non-Immigrant B visa, which the Embassy lists for people who want to conduct business, be employed, intern or attend a conference. The Embassy says all applicants must apply through the Thai e-Visa website (thaievisa.go.th) and that consular services are by appointment only.

Fees published by the Embassy for the Non-Immigrant B visa (as of our review date; the Embassy also announced updated consular fees in April 2026, so check its page before paying):

Thailand: company pack and traveller pack (B visa)

Group files go wrong when the employer side and the traveller side are prepared separately. Use this split as a working checklist; the exact list for your category and each traveller is confirmed by the visa centre and the inviting party.

Company / employer pack

  • Invitation letter from the Thai company on its letterhead naming the applicant, the purpose of travel and the period of the meeting or conference, with the applicant’s passport details
  • Letter from the Indian company on letterhead: company profile, the applicant’s designation, purpose and period of travel, with passport details
  • Thai company profile and registration papers with shareholder list (issued within six months), plus its tax papers or, for a new company, a signed and stamped explanatory letter
  • Thai company balance sheet for the past year (in Thai)
  • For self-employed applicants: business registration, details of operations and evidence of income-tax payment in India

Each traveller provides

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Completed application form with original signature and two recent 3.5 x 4.5 cm photographs
  • Copy of the confirmed return ticket
  • Six months of original, bank-attested bank statements showing a minimum balance equivalent to USD 700 per person
  • Hotel or accommodation reservation with contact number and address (or the company’s letter if staying in company accommodation)

Source note on this checklist

The two lists follow the Non-Immigrant Business (single entry) checklist of the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Mumbai, dated 7 July 2022 — the most detailed official list we could verify. Applications now run through the e-Visa portal, where the current document upload list applies, so treat this as a preparation template. The Embassy’s visa page was last updated on 16 September 2026, when we re-checked the fees and exemption wording shown on this page. The Mumbai checklist also states that processing takes at least 5 working days from receipt of all documents and fees, and that the office may ask for an interview or additional documents.

How we run a Thailand team file

  1. Decide exemption or B visa per traveller. The Embassy words the exemption differently in two places, so contract-related or conference activity is checked against the B-visa route before anyone travels on the exemption.
  2. Brief the Thai host. The invitation letter must name the applicant, passport details, purpose and period, supported by the company’s registration and tax papers issued within six months.
  3. Prepare bank statements early. The 2022 Mumbai checklist asks for six months of original, bank-attested statements showing at least the equivalent of USD 700 per person.
  4. File on the e-Visa portal. All applicants apply through thaievisa.go.th; we upload and track each file and re-check the Embassy page shortly before filing because the rules changed in 2026.

Timing, fees and processing

Start with the Thai host: the invitation letter and the company papers behind it take the longest and every traveller’s file depends on them. The Embassy publishes validity and fee information for each B-visa type; it does not publish a processing time on the visa page we reviewed, and the 2022 Mumbai checklist quotes at least 5 working days. Because rules were revised in September 2026, re-check the exemption and e-Visa pages shortly before booking non-refundable travel.

Official figures, not guarantees

Fees above come from the Royal Thai Embassy New Delhi page and can change. Processing time and the outcome are decided by the Thai authorities; this page does not promise either. Check the sources below, or ask us to confirm the current position for your team.
